Peruvian President Boluarte Faces 97% Disapproval Amid Salary Hike Controversy

These are the lowest figures recorded during her presidency. Boluarte is scheduled to deliver a national address assessing her administration on July 28, Peru’s Independence Day.Disapproval of Boluarte’s administration is largely tied to the 98.2% of the population who rejected her recent salary hike, which more than doubled her previous compensation. Mocking the polling companies, she challenged them to simply give her administration a score of “zero.”Peru’s President Boluarte Sets Record as World’s Most Unpopular PresidentAnother survey, published Sunday by the newspaper La Republica and conducted by the IEP polling firm, showed her disapproval rating at 93.9% and approval at 3.6%. Even so, this cements her status as the most disapproved president in the last 13 years. According to IEP, 39% of respondents said Boluarte’s salary raise made them angry, 31% felt disappointed, and 12% said it made them feel a sense of injustice.The CPI survey was conducted nationwide between July 18 and 24 with a sample of 1,200 people.
