Prime Minister Robert Abela has issued a statement on his WhatsApp broadcast channel saying his thoughts are with all the families who were affected by the three road fatalities which occurred on Sunday.Abela started his statement thanking all the messages he received following the hospitalisation of his parents who were involved in a fatal car crash in Fgura. Mum, dad, and the whole family truly appreciate them.”“In light of the other incidents that occurred over the past few hours, my thoughts are also with all the families and those who have been affected,” Abela continued.“Let’s continue to take better care of ourselves and of one another.”Three people died in less than 24 hours due to traffic accidents. The first incident occurred in Fgura – a 71-year-old woman died when the vehicle she was a passenger in collided with a car carrying President Emeritus George Abela and his wife.The second incident claimed the life of a 58-year-old motorcyclist who lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a curb in Pietà. The final tragedy involved a collision between a moving and parked car in Valletta. Unfortunately, a bystander – later identified as Mildred Azzopardi – got caught in the middle of the two cars. She was certified dead on the scene, while a 69-year-old man in the parked is in critical condition.•
