List: UPDF releases shortlist of recruits district by district

The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has released the shortlist of candidates aspiring to join the army.  The shortlist was compiled following a nationwide call for applications from Ugandans interested in joining the army as privates. Following the advert, UPDF has now announced dates for physical recruitment exercises.  The list of aspiring candidates is available on the UPDF website, arranged by district, with dates of the physical recruitment exercises specified.  “Following a successful exercise of submission of applications by candidates aspiring to join the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF). We are delighted to announce that the lists of those shortlisted are ready for viewing on the UPDF website www.updf.go.ug/careers/, at the District or Municipal headquarters,” the announcement published Thursday evening reads.  The physical recruitment exercises are set to begin on August  5, 2025 and end on August 15,  2025 at different recruitment centres.  The requirements for shortlisted candidates Those shortlisted should report with three passport photographs and an application letter signed by LC 1, DISO, and GISO. Report with their original academic documents.  Those who did not indicate their district of residence in their applications will report to the districts mentioned on their national identification cards. Those who report with forged documents will face prosecution.  Only shortlisted candidates should appear at the recruitment centres. Recruitment in the UPDF is free of charge, and shortlisted candidates should watch out for conmen and fraudsters Successful candidates must report to the Kaweweta Basic Military Training School in Ngoma-Nakaseke District within three days of recruitment.
