A ferry boat crash at Disney’s Transportation & Ticket Center (TTC) in Orlando, Florida, on the evening of July 31, 2025, left multiple people injured, with paramedics treating several guests on the scene. The incident, which involved one of Disney’s ferry boats docking at high speed, has raised concerns about the safety of this popular mode of transportation between the TTC and the Magic Kingdom theme park. The boat in question, the General Joe Potter, was in the process of docking at the TTC when it reportedly hit the dock with more force than usual. Witnesses described a chaotic scene as the ferry made contact with the dock, causing passengers to be thrown forward, with some sustaining injuries. One passenger, Tami Hackett, visiting with her family from Houston, Texas, recalled the violent force of the crash, stating:“Suddenly we crashed into something and we all went flying forward, falling. The stroller landed on its back causing the girls to hit their heads. A lot of people screaming and really hurt bad.” Hackett, who was traveling with her daughter, husband, and three kids, said the lack of communication or guidance from the crew made the situation worse, describing it as “unacceptable.”Another guest, Kelly, described how her granddaughter’s stroller was also overturned during the crash, causing her to hit her head. She expressed dissatisfaction with Disney’s handling of the aftermath, stating that there was “no announcement made after hitting whatever we hit at full speed. The captain was not apologetic whatsoever.”Heidi Goldsworthy, who had ridden the ferry many times since 1971, spoke of the shock of the incident. “It was so sudden and it was chaotic, completely chaotic afterwards. Passengers were helping passengers get up, checking on people, making sure that everybody was okay,” Goldsworthy said. She noted that the incident occurred during heavy rain, which likely made the situation even more difficult for both passengers and crew.Credit: dylanw216, UnsplashParamedics and Safety ProtocolsFollowing the crash, paramedics from both the Orange County Fire Rescue Department and Osceola County Fire Rescue & EMS assisted the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District’s Fire Department. However, it remains unclear how many people were injured or how many required further treatment. Some reports suggest that a few individuals were treated at urgent care, but no fatalities have been reported. At the time of the incident, the ferry’s docking procedure was interrupted, and the passengers were disembarked without receiving any formal instructions or updates on what had occurred. According to witnesses, the lack of communication from the crew after the incident added to the confusion and distress.Credit: Paul Beattie, FlickrInvestigation and Disney’s ResponseFOX 35 Orlando has reached out to Disney, as well as the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District and its fire department, for further comment on the situation. At the moment, the cause of the crash has not been determined, and there has been no information provided about whether the ferry’s docking procedure or the weather conditions played a role in the incident. The General Joe Potter ferry boat, part of Disney’s fleet of large, two-level boats that transport guests across Disney’s Seven Seas Lagoon, remains a central part of the transportation experience at Walt Disney World. Guests rely on these ferries to travel between the TTC and Magic Kingdom, and the high volume of passengers each day makes safety a priority. While Disney has yet to make a public statement on the ferry incident, the company’s history of safety concerns has only highlighted the importance of addressing potential issues that could affect the safety of park visitors. The lack of communication, as reported by guests, only adds to the conversation surrounding the need for better safety protocols and clear procedures following such incidents. As investigations continue and Disney works to provide further details, guests remain concerned about the safety of the ferry ride and how future incidents will be managed at the resort. The post Shocking Details Emerge Regarding Brutal Ferry Boat Crash; Disney Remains Silent appeared first on Inside the Magic.
