This comes after his predecessor, 1995-batch IPS officer Shiv Darshan Singh Jamwal, was transferred to Arunachal Pradesh. In an order issued Friday, MHA Director Anish Muraleedharan said, “With the approval of the competent authority, the posting of three IPS officers of AGMUT [Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territories] cadre have been ordered, with immediate effect, and until further orders. S D Singh Jamwal, a 1995-batch IPS officer, was transferred from Ladakh and appointed as the Arunachal Pradesh DGP.”IPS S D Singh Jamwal will take over from Anand Mohan, a 1994-batch IPS officer, who has been asked to report to New Delhi where he may be accommodated in the Delhi Police. The order further read, “The current Arunachal Pradesh DGP, Anand Mohan [1994-batch IPS officer] has been transferred to New Delhi, and Mukesh Singh, who was repatriated from the Central deputation, has been appointed as the new Ladakh Police chief.”IPS Mukesh Singh, who is currently posted in the ITBP, had earlier worked with the NIA and the J&K Police. He was originally from the Jammu and Kashmir cadre, before it was merged with the AGMUT cadre after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. Before moving to the ITBP, he served as the Inspector General and later as the ADGP for the Jammu range.Ladakh activist Sonam Wangchuk was detained on September 26, 2025, under  the NSA for his alleged involvement in instigating violent protests in Ladakh on September 24, in which four persons were killed in police firing and 50 people injured.A day after Wangchuk was detained and moved to a jail in Jodhpur, Jamwal had said, “Sonam Wangchuk, if you see his profile, his history — you can see that on YouTube. He instigates. He talks about the Arab Spring, talks about Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. He has an agenda. As far as foreign funding is concerned, a process is already underway. There is a case of FCRA violation. Let me tell you, we had arrested a Pakistani POI, who was with him… who was reporting about him and sending that across. We have a record of this. We have, like Pakistan, [a record of] where he went and did an event of [Pakistani newspaper] Dawn, and after that (to) Bangladesh. All this puts a big question mark on him.”Stay updated with the latest - Click here to follow us on Instagram© The Indian Express Pvt LtdTags:LadakhMinistry of Home Affairs
