The 3.17-minute promo video makes it clear that the period political action drama is set against the backdrop of the anti-Hindi imposition agitations that rocked Tamil Nadu in the decades immediately after India attained independence. The trailer opens in 1964, offering glimpses of the seemingly uneventful lives of the characters played by Sivakarthikeyan and Atharvaa. However, things change once “a law is passed to enforce Hindi as the sole official language nationwide.” As the atmosphere heats up with protests against Hindi imposition, Atharvaa is determined to extend solidarity with the revolutionaries, while Sivakarthikeyan, who works for the railways, is initially unconcerned. However, as his job demands, he decides to study Hindi and persuades Sreeleela, who works at the radio station, to teach him. As their journey progresses, we see them slowly fall for each other. Also Read | Shark Tank’s Ritesh Agarwal reacts to Virat Kohli choosing a Rs 2,058 cr Indian sportswear company over Puma’s Rs 300 cr deal: ‘This is a sign that…’But romance takes a backseat here as the struggle for identity intensifies. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.Meanwhile, the recent Parasakthi audio launch event in Chennai also witnessed some ugly scenes, with certain audience members reportedly chanting “TVK” (Vijay’s political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam), clearly indicating their disdain for the Pongal clash.Click here to follow Screen Digital on YouTube and stay updated with the latest from the world of cinema.© IE Online Media Services Pvt Ltd
