Jubilee Year celebrations conclude in Thiruvananthapuram Archdiocese

Archbishop of the Latin Archdiocese of Thiruvananthapuram Thomas J. Netto on Sunday inaugurated the valedictory ceremony of the Archdiocese-level Jubilee Year celebrations in the Catholic Church on Sunday.He emphasised the need to draw strength from the inner spirit at a time when the world is facing major challenges.Archbishop Emeritus M. Soosaipakiam launched ‘Santhwanam Arogya Samriddhi,’ a scheme aimed at sustainable health and prosperity through faith, on the occasion.Delivering the keynote address, Joseph Antony, former head of the Political Science Department of the Kerala University, said the Latin Catholic community continued to face neglect at all levels even 79 years after Independence.Auxiliary Bishop Christudas R. presided over the event.Various programmes were conducted in the Archdiocese over the past one year in connection with the Jubilee Year celebrations. This included construction of 100 houses for homeless families. Students’ forums were started in all parishes and children’s meets were organised in all the 10 foranes under the Archdiocese.Vicar General Mon.
