MP, MLA inaugurate Rs 11 lakh development works in Mohali

The projects were launched at Manak Majra, Giga Majra and Manakpur Kallar villages, marking another step towards strengthening basic infrastructure and public facilities in rural areas.Under the MP’s discretionary fund, open gyms costing Rs 3 lakh each were inaugurated at Manak Majra, Giga Majra and Manakpur Kallar to promote fitness and a healthy lifestyle among youth. In addition, benches worth Rs 1 lakh were installed at Giga Majra, while 15 solar lights costing Rs 1 lakh were installed at Manak Majra to improve street lighting and public safety.Addressing the gathering, MLA Kulwant Singh said that keeping the health and fitness of youth in focus, the foundation stone of a new open gym had been laid with the objective of encouraging young people towards sports and physical fitness. Speaking to media persons, MP Kang and MLA Singh said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was committed to fulfilling every promise made to the people and that no part of the constituency would be allowed to lag behind in terms of development.MLA Singh said that 3,200 sports grounds were being developed across Punjab and a proposal was in place to develop 34 sports grounds in the Mohali Assembly constituency alone. He said this initiative would play a major role in creating a healthier Punjab, as a large number of youth would engage in fitness activities through these gyms and remain away from drug abuse. Referring to the installation of solar lights, he said that improved lighting would help keep a check on theft and other criminal activities. He expressed gratitude to MP Kang, stating that these gyms and solar lights were being installed from the MP’s discretionary fund.The MLA said that a wave of development was sweeping across Punjab, with gyms being set up at some places, solar lights installed at others, repairs of streets and drains underway, and a network of roads being laid. He added that long-pending development works were now being taken up on priority. He said that the Aam Aadmi Party government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, was making continuous efforts to expand and strengthen facilities in the health and education sectors for the benefit of the people.MLA Singh also announced that a Rs 10 lakh health insurance scheme would be available to every resident of Punjab from January 7. He said there was no shortage of funds for development works and that the face of the constituency would be transformed in the coming days. Emphasising timely execution, he said the government’s aim was not merely to lay foundation stones but to complete projects within a fixed time frame and provide real facilities to the public. Taking a dig at Opposition parties, he said previous governments had misled people with empty promises, whereas the present government was delivering development on the ground.During the programme, completed works were formally inaugurated and new projects were launched, while officials were directed to ensure that there was no compromise on the quality of work.
