Disneyland Resort guests are speaking out online after paying extra for Fantasmic! Dining Packages only to be met with a roach infestation when they arrive at their designated viewing areas.Fantasmic! is a longtime nighttime spectacular at Disneyland Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The show invites Disney Park guests into Mickey Mouse’s dreams, where he battles the evil Maleficent for control of his mind. In April 2023, a devastating fire destroyed Disneyland Resort’s Maleficent animatronic, and the show was closed for over a year. A new version of Fantasmic premiered in May 2024 without the dragon animatronic.Credit: DisneyNow, Disneyland Park guests are reporting another, albeit more minor, problem with Fantasmic!. Earlier this month, Redditor u/birbybirble shared their disappointing experience paying for a Fantasmic! Dining Package and finding the viewing area infested with cockroaches:Fantasmic dining package with cockroaches!Fantasmic dining package with cockroaches! byu/birbybirble inDisneyland“Beware if you have one of the Fantasmic dining packages where you’re sitting on the ground you may be sitting with cockroaches,” the Disney Park guest wrote. “I didn’t get a pic of them but my family was sat by a drain and we had to put our backpacks by it to block the cockroaches from crawling out. It was pretty gross! Disappointing that we’re paying extra to sit on the hard ground among cockroaches…”Fantasmic! Dining Packages range from $35 to $89 per guest and include reserved viewing for the nighttime spectacular. However, not all packages include seating, meaning that some guests, like the Reddit user, are forced to sit on the ground if they don’t want to stand.Credit: DisneyThe post amassed hundreds of upvotes and comments from Disney Parks fans. Many reported similar experiences with cockroaches, not just in the Fantasmic! Dining Package viewing area, but throughout Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, and Downtown Disney.“It’s that time of year for the good’ol Anaheim Cockroach to rear its ugly head..,” u/chiangku wrote. “Always beware sitting on the ground at Disneyland, and keep distance from drains, trash cans, and trees when doing so!”“Ah yes, the Disney cockroaches,” u/BobbaYagga57 replied. “Beware the drains! I see them crawling out of the drains in Main Street all the time.”Credit: Brittany DiCologero, Inside the Magic“If you walk back to your hotel at night you’ll see them just chillin on the sidewalk,” said u/KASega. “They are everywhere. Make sure your shirt is not open in the back for them to crawl up when you’re sitting on the ground.”Disneyland Resort tries to control pests, but there’s only so much they can do outside near a large waterway and sewer drains.
