The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert until 9.30 am for the entire region, predicting moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms with gusty winds reaching up to 30-40 kmph.  Areas under red alert include Preet Vihar, Shahdara, Seelampur, Vivek Vihar, Ghaziabad, Noida, Faridabad, Palwal, Hodal, Aligarh, Bulandshahr and Mathura.
