Gujarat CMO, secretariat receive hoax bomb threat; complaint registered

The Gandhinagar police have filed a complaint regarding the hoax bomb threat at the Sector-7 police station in the city.The Gujarat Chief Minister’s Office and the state secretariat in Gandhinagar recently received anonymous bomb threat emails.After receiving the emails, the Gandhinagar police mobilised their Special Operations Group (SOG), Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), and the Dog Squad, cleared all buildings in the vicinity, and checked them thoroughly.On Saturday, Ravi Teja Vasamsetty, Superintendent of Police, told The Indian Express that the bomb threat emails were a hoax as no explosives were found in any of the premises.SP Vasamsetty added that the emails vaguely refer to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Tamil Nadu.The Gandhinagar police have filed a complaint regarding the hoax bomb threat at the Sector-7 police station in the city.In recent months, a spate of such threat emails has been directed at important government buildings and cultural structures across the country.Notably, the Ahmedabad Cybercrime police last month arrested an employee of a consultancy firm in Chennai for allegedly sending 21 hoax bomb threat emails to two schools in Ahmedabad in May and June.
