Now that Donald Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” is law, it’s time to take a look at what’s in it. The sweeping, nearly 1,000-page document dramatically changes tax law for all Americans.Credit: Inside the MagicA provision of the bill could also impact your next travel experience. The “One Big Beautiful Bill” adds a new tax on international travel at a time when American tourist destinations are struggling to attract new visitors.A provision of the bill calls for a $250 non-refundable “visa integrity fee” for all international visitors not entering the country on a nonimmigrant visa. However, while the new fees have not gone into effect, they have caused chaos for travelers and those who are meant to collect them.Credit: Inside the MagicThe U.S. Travel Association told CNBC:The bill directs the DHS Secretary to charge the fee, but DHS does not own the visa application, issuance or renewal process — so where and when would DHS collect the fee? This has resulted in significant challenges and unanswered questions regarding implementation.Adding these new fees compounds a major issue facing U.S. tourism: a significant decline in international travelers due to Trump’s policies. According to Forbes, the U.S. travel industry will lose $29 billion this year due to a dramatic decrease in international travel.Credit: Inside The MagicThe World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) analyzed worldwide travel trends and found that America is the only country in the world experiencing a significant decline in international tourism compared to last year. At the start of the year, the WTTC forecasted a nine percent increase in global tourism to America; however, the country will see an 8.2 percent decline this year, a 17 percent swing. The WTTC also forecasted a $16.3 billion increase in spending by international travelers in America; however, with the decline in tourism, the U.S. is set to lose $12.5 million in revenue, a nearly $29 billion swing.Credit: Inside the MagicThis decline in international tourism has hit the theme park industry especially hard. Not only have large parks like Disney World and the Universal Orlando Resort seen a decline in attendance, but smaller regional parks like Six Flags and United Parks and Resorts have seen a double-digit decline in attendance early in the summer. With the new fees coming thanks to the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” tourists are less incentivized to go to America, exacerbating an already difficult situation for the United States’ theme parks. What do you think of the decline in tourists coming to America thanks to Donald Trump’s policies?
