‘Be careful what you wish for’ – Eddie Hearn gives stunning reaction to blockbuster Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul fight

Eddie Hearn has given Jake Paul a clear warning about the dangers of fighting former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.Since defeating Julio Cesar Chavez Jr via unanimous decision last month, Paul has been pushing for a chance to fight AJ.GettyChavez Jr was Paul’s toughest fight thus far during his 12-1 pro career[/caption]Once again Paul has called Joshua out, this time in an interview with The Stomping Ground, suggesting the Brit star has ‘a weak chin’.The American was watching at Wembley Stadium ringside as Oleksandr Usyk knocked out Daniel Dubois.‘The Problem Child’ has also met with Turki Alalshikh recently, allegedly to try and get the fight over the line. Joshua has been inactive in the ring since losing to Daniel Dubois last September, ending a four-fight win streak after his back-to-back defeats to Usyk.A domestic clash between Tyson Fury and Joshua has always been a dream for fans and recent talk suggested that dream may be fulfilled should they both win their respective next fights. But Fury insisted rather than a fight with Paul being a ‘tune-up’ for AJ, the American would dispatch him.“I don’t know about tune-ups, I think Jake Paul knocks him out,” he told Ring Magazine.“I just think Jake Paul would knock AJ out. I think AJ is a spent force, and Jake Paul is on the rise. I like his new heavyweight look – bit chubby, bit bulky. [He’s] getting there.”The potential for a bout between Paul and Joshua seems to be edging closer with CEO of Most Valuable Promotions, Nakisa Bidarian, and Matchroom chief Hearn set for talks. But Hearn latter has given ‘The Problem Child’ a serious warning about the potential fight.Hearn appears stunned by the possibility of AJ taking on PaulThe Stomping GroundGettyJoshua is expected to fight before the end of 2025[/caption]Speaking on The Stomping Ground, Hearn said: “It sounds like AJ is going to fight Jake Paul. If he’s true to his word, if he really wants the fight – it’s all very well saying, ‘Anthony Joshua has a weak chin and I will knock him out’ – the fight will happen.“It’s great that Tyson Fury is saying that Jake Paul is going to win.“I mean, maybe I’ve just lost my mind but if they truly want that fight, I reached out to Nakisa earlier and we’re gonna have a chat next week.“If they truly want the fight we can make, actually, the fight that does the biggest numbers in the sport. Forget Canelo vs Terence Crawford that doesn’t even touch the surface of, and I can’t believe I’m saying it, of AJ against Jake Paul.“If you want to do the biggest numbers in the sport we’ll make it happen but please I just want you to like be careful what you wish for.”The Youtuber-turned-boxer has won 12 fights, and lost one, after launching his professional career. His one loss comes to Tommy Fury who defeated Paul via split decision. Meanwhile, Joshua boasts a professional record of 28-4, two of those losses coming to the three-time undisputed champion Usyk.Joshua would be a step-up in terms of opponents for Paul, who has only boxed 69 rounds in his career thus far.Hearn explained: “This isn’t a game, this isn’t a YouTube video, this isn’t numbers, this isn’t algorithms, this is physically dangerous. So if you want to do it, be careful. But we will do it.“We’ve always said, ‘yeah of course we do it’, but I just didn’t think anyone would even give it the credibility.“I’m not gonna argue about it. I’m just telling you and I’m telling Jake Paul, this is very dangerous. So if you’re for real just understand the consequences that come with a fight like this.“Ask Francis Ngannou who, in my opinion, would destroy Jake Paul.“But good luck to the man, if you’re game and you want to roll the dice, we’re ready.”
