Samsung's latest foldable phones have broken pre-order records in several regions, including India and South Korea, the company's home market. In light of these developments, Samsung is adjusting its original production plans for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and Flip 7 FE.The premium-priced Galaxy Z Fold 7 is a greater hit than Samsung expected. According to the Korean media, the company plans to manufacture 2.4 million Galaxy Z Fold 7 units in 2025, up 9% from last year.Meanwhile, Samsung aims to manufacture 3 million Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Flip 7 FE units combined. More specifically, 2.3 million Flip 7 units and 700,000 Flip 7 FE units.Interestingly, this aligns with the production volume of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 in 2024. In other words, Samsung expects to sell fewer Flip 7 models than Flip 6 models, and for the Flip 7 FE to compensate for this. However, Samsung may have also overestimated the market impact of the new Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. Reports say that Samsung initially planned to manufacture 1.6 million Z Flip 7 FE units in 2025 but has now more than halved that figure. We do feel like the Fan Edition foldable phone may have been overpriced for what essentially is a rebranded Flip 6 with a few downgrades in tow.Samsung might be facing supply chain issuesThe Galaxy Z Fold 7 is doing unexpectedly well, particularly considering the higher launch price, but this success might lead to other problems. The supply chain is almost stretched to the maximum. The new materials and components Samsung used to create a thinner Fold 7 are not easy to acquire and manufacture.Given the higher demand for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, it is possible that Samsung's supply chain will run into a few bottlenecks this year. Whether this will make the Galaxy Z Fold 7 a rare commodity remains to be seen. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the two new Flip phones are available for pre-order until later today and will officially hit the shelves globally tomorrow, July 25.
