Teams all around the NFL are beginning to report into training camps, and for the Las Vegas Raiders, there is a huge amount to be excited about. The Black and Silver are entering a new era under head coach Pete Carroll, and his task is simple – to improve the team that went 4-13 in 2024 from within. Carroll is the new Raiders HC, and RB Ashton Jeanty was his first draft pickGettyHaving had 11 picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Raiders’ look to have picked up a promising crop of young players. But, all eyes are on the sixth overall pick, running back Ashton Jeanty. Despite having yet to make his league debut, the former Boise State star has already been tipped for NFL stardom. There is even some chatter beginning to form over whether he will make All-Pro status, especially with Carroll prefering his offense – this year led by Chip Kelly – to run the ball well, and often. CBS’ Josh Edwards has already tipped the Raiders rookie to have a stellar 2025 campaign, perhaps even better than an already established back, such as the Atlanta Falcons’ Bijan Robinson. “Atlanta’s Bijan Robinson, is still eligible to make his first All-Pro appearance, but another option is to be explored: Jeanty,” Edwards wrote.“Rookies are not often included, but if there were one position that made sense, it would be running back given the shorter career span.“Ashton Jeanty is capable of making an impact in both the run and pass games. Given Las Vegas’ lack of offensive weapons, the Boise State product has an opportunity to see ample volume in Year 1.”But with the likes of Derrick Henry, Saquon Barkley – who he has already been likened to – and Christian McCaffrey still very much at the top end of their game, it would take something monumental for a rookie to snatch the coveted prize. In a new-look offense with Geno Smith under center, but little Pro Bowl-caliber talent in the receiver room, aside from star tight end Brock Bowers, there is a strong likelihood that Jeanty could be heavily involved in the Raiders’ offensive scheme next season. Jeanty has been touted to become an All-Pro in his rookie campaignGettyJeanty has elite star potential and will likely receive a high volume of the ball in 2025GettyAccording to Yahoo! Sports’ Justin Boone, Jeanty has the potential to become the ‘engine’ of Las Vegas’ attack, and could well establish himself as top five in his position after his rookie season.“On top of an elite prospect profile and the aforementioned top-six draft capital, he joins an offense ready to make him the engine of their attack,” Boone wrote. “He’ll [Chip Kelly] bring an uptempo approach to the Raiders, while giving Jeanty as many touches as he can handle…Jeanty is worthy and has an excellent shot to be a top-five RB in Year 1.” Jeanty, the Heisman Trophy runner-up in 2024 spent three years at Boise State where he rushed for a total of 4,769 yards in 750 attempts, scoring 50 touchdowns. He tallied an additional 862 receiving yards, scoring six touchdowns. He also averaged a whopping 185.8 yards per contest in his junior year, where he also came just 27 yards shy of breaking Barry Sanders’ single-season rushing record of 2,628 yards set back in 1988.As such, his former college head coach Spencer Danielson was full of high praise for his ex-player. Jeanty had a stellar collegiate career at Boise StateGettyThe Raiders were able to sign star DE Maxx Crosby to an extensionGettyNFL legend is also a minority team owner of the Las Vegas RaidersGetty“When he was 17-years-old, he came to Boise State, had success, and everybody thought he should leave,” Danielson said at media availability for Mountain West Media Day. “But he stayed, put his head down and said ‘I can have everything I want from this game and to be developed into the best version of myself right here at Boise State.“To see him get the sixth overall pick, money and all that – he’s earned it. Everybody wants those things, but not a lot of people want to do what it takes to get those. Ashton does. “I think he is not only going to be one of the best football players in the NFL, I believe he is going to be the offensive rookie of the year. But I also believe he is going to have a huge push for that culture that Coach [Pete] Carroll is developing.”Those words will be music to Tom Brady’s ears. Widely considered as the greatest NFL quarterback of all time, Brady became a part owner and executive of the Raiders in 2024. Spending 23 years in the NFL, and winning seven Super Bowl rings, six with the New England Patriots, and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 47-year-old knows exactly what it takes to be a winning franchise. Brady is after a significant culture change, with the Raiders having reached the postseason just twice since they lost the Super Bowl in 2002, which was also the last time they ever won a playoff game. Having been involved in prying away Smith from the Seattle Seahawks and reuniting him with his former head coach Carroll in Las Vegas, Brady also played a crucial role in signing star defensive back Maxx Crosby to a then-historic three-year, $106.5 million extension. As Brady and co seek to rebuild the franchise and turn them into winners worthy of playing at the Allegiant Stadium, the three-time NFL MVP revealed his seven key traits for building a successful culture and football team. “During training camp, teams can carry 90 players for 53 roster spots. By the beginning of September, decisions will have to be made,” Brady wrote on his titular website. “Some guys will stick, some will fall away. “And we won’t know exactly who until the demands of playing this game at the highest level reveal the aspects of their character that are the most important to building a winning team: determination, competitiveness, resilience, perseverance, humility, integrity, intelligence. “I don’t care if you were the last guy signed or the first guy picked, on winning teams these are the traits that are going to matter most.”NFL's Greatest......Ranking the top 10......Quarterbacks of all-time – Can anyone better Tom Brady?Wide receivers of all-time – Does Randy Moss or Jerry Rice come out on top?Running backs of all-time – Stacking Jim Brown, Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith and moreTight ends of all-time – How does Travis Kelce compare? In hindsight it is hard to believe that Brady turned into the superstar he became when he was drafted with the 199th pick in the sixth round of the 2002 Draft. But if anybody knows about determination, resilience and perseverance towards football, it’s Tom Brady, and Jeanty has already demonstrated these traits throughout his college career. Now the 21-year-old rookie just needs to continue to be himself as he makes the jump to the pinnacle of football, and should he do so, the future of the Raiders organization will be in great hands.
