The government has launched the âP4â initiative to bridge the socio-economic divide by encouraging the affluent sections of society to support the economically disadvantaged families, said NTR district Collector G. Lakshmisha on Sunday.He was speaking at a programme organised by the Andhra Motor Merchants Association (AMMA) to give scholarships to students from economically weaker sections. Mr. Lakshmisha praised the associationâs efforts to ensure that financial constraints do not hinder poor students from pursuing higher education and reaching their full potential.He shared that the association has been extending financial support to children for over the last three decades and that this year, as many as 408 students received scholarships worth â¹16.5 lakh, along with notebooks. He said that just like in âP4â concept, the association members had donned the role of mentors to nearly 300 âgolden familiesâ to make education accessible to the children. He appealed to more individuals, NRIs, industrialists and voluntary organisations to come forward as mentors and serve the needy in society.The Collector informed that there were 86,000 âgolden familiesâ in the district and every effort must be made to ensure that they rise from poverty and gain a dignified place in future.The association president G. Satish Babu, vice-presidents G. Venkata Subbarao and D. Durga Prasad, general secretary S. Chandrasekhar, , joint secretary K.
