Car plunges into farm well, youth sustains injuries

A 23-year-old youth sustained injuries after the car he was driving fell into an abandoned open farm well at Vallivagai village near Tiruvannamalai town on Thursday.Police said the victim, S. Gopal, was a resident of Kiliapattu village near Tiruvannamalai town. After completing his graduation, Gopal was working in a private firm in the town. On the occasion of “Aadi Amavasai (new moon day)“, Gopal went to Murugan temple in Vallivagai village. While returning from the temple, Gopal lost control of the car after he tried to take a left turn. The car plunged into the dry farm well, which is around 50-feet deep and got stuck in the middle of it. The incident happened around 11.30 a.m.As Gopal shouted for help, farmers and other motorists r alerted the firefighters and police in Tiruvannamalai town. An injured Gopal was rescued from the well. Firefighters also recovered the mangled car from the well. Gopal was admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Tiruvannamalai town where doctors said that his condition is stable.
