In April 2025, Samsung released the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 update to the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, Galaxy S23 Ultra, and Galaxy S23 FE. While it brought a new UI, many new features, and smoother animations, it also seems to have worsened the camera performance as well as the behaviour of the Camera app of these phones. On Reddit (1, 2) and Samsung’s Community forum (1, 2), many people are reporting that since they have installed One UI 7 on their Galaxy S23, the images taken with the front and rear cameras seem to be blurry (not sharp), have washed out colors, and over-processed. They also say that these issues get more serious in low-light conditions (via Tech-Issues Today). A few people have also reported that the Camera app is taking too long to capture photos, load previews, and switch between front and rear cameras and different modes. We haven’t noticed any such issue on our Galaxy S23. On Samsung’s Community forum, moderators are asking people to submit a detailed report via the Samsung Members app. Sadly, the brand has not acknowledged the issue yet. However, we expect the brand to do that soon and release an update to fix the problem.A few people have tried clearing the Camera app’s cache and resetting camera preferences to fix these issues. These tricks have worked for some and haven’t for others. As a temporary measure, some people are also using Scene Optimiser and adjusting various setting via the Pro mode to get better photos. The post Did One UI 7 downgrade Galaxy S23’s camera quality? appeared first on SamMobile.
