DINOSAUR is somewhat of an enigma, as it’s simultaneously one of Disney World’s scariest and cheesiest attractions. The ride’s story is fairly simple: guests have been invited to take a trip back in time using the Time Rover, a time-traveling four-wheeler designed by the fictional Dino Institute. Things quickly go wrong, and guests are tasked with surviving a dinosaur attack and an impending meteor strike. The ride was built on the cheap, there’s no denying it. Disney infamously faced a number of struggles while designing and building DINOSAUR and its Animal Kingdom theme park. Finances ran thin, forcing Disney to cut planned lands and scale back attractions. DINOSAUR was one of these scaled-back rides. The same design and track layout used for Indiana Jones Adventure in Disneyland was brought over for DINOSAUR to save time and money. However, Disney didn’t skimp out on the dinos themselves, as the ride features a number of intimidating and incredibly life-like animatronics.Like the animals that inspired it, DINOSAUR will eventually go extinct as Disney revamps its Animal Kingdom theme park. Half of DinoLand U.S.A. closed in early 2025, with the other half set to close in 2026. DINOSAUR will remain open throughout 2025, closing permanently sometime next year.To learn more about Disney’s ambitious DinoLand plans, click here.Alien Swirling SaucersCredit: DisneyRelated: Disney World Restricts Access to Magic Kingdom, Issues App-Wide Warning To CustomersDisney’s Hollywood Studios arguably has the best selection of rides in all of Walt Disney World.
