Situation OverviewThe humanitarian situation in southern Syria has significantly deteriorated in recent weeks, particularly in the governorates of As-Sweida and Daraa. The escalation and expansion of ongoing events have led to mass displacement, road closures, disruption of essential services, and have left thousands of families in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. Securing the basic necessities of daily life has become a major challenge for communities trapped in these areas, amid the absence or limited access to food, clean water, healthcare, electricity, and other essential needs. The Israeli occupation's airstrikes on several areas in Daraa and As-Sweida have caused extensive damage and significantly hindered access to affected populations. As tensions intensify and the roads leading to the affected areas become increasingly dangerous, reaching the most vulnerable populations has become extremely difficult.Families in these areas report facing major challenges in moving to and from their towns, with local markets disrupted and supply routes cut off, resulting in severe shortages of food, fuel, and medical supplies. Healthcare facilities are under immense pressure, exacerbated by extended and frequent power outages, while many vital services have either been suspended or are unable to meet the growing needs. As for the thousands of families who were forced to flee their homes in search of safety, their situation has been no better. Many left behind their houses and belongings, only to face a reality marked by insecurity and deteriorating living conditions. With the loss of income sources and poor shelter conditions, meeting basic needs has become a daily challenge. In response to these growing needs, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) has mobilized its emergency teams to deliver life-saving assistance in both governorates, as well as from its main headquarters and with the support of teams from neighboring governorates. Despite access constraints and delays resulting from the current tense situation, SARC continues its efforts to provide life-saving aid and alleviate the suffering of affected families and host communities through a multi-sectoral response. It is important to note that the scale of needs far exceeds the available resources, which are either scarce or entirely unavailable. This report outlines the developments in the humanitarian situation in As-Sweida and Daraa, highlights the key challenges faced by civilians, and presents the response efforts led by the Syrian Arab Red Crescent. It also identifies the urgent needs that require immediate attention and additional support to reduce the suffering of the most vulnerable groups.
