All eyes in Miami will be on their star QB-WR duo.Franchise quarterback Tua Tagovailoa spoke to the media on Wednesday as training camp got underway, specifically talking about his relationship with star wideout Tyreek Hill.Tagovailoa and Hill have become a prolific scoring duo over the past few seasonsAt the end of last season, Hill heavily implied that he wanted out of Miami, even going as far as saying, “I’m out,” after Week 18 last year.He has since walked those comments back, but the vibes remain a little off. Tagovailoa revealed that his relationship with his wide receiver will need to be rebuilt.“I think there’s a lot more vulnerability with Tyreek,” Tagovailoa said.“He’s conversing a lot more with the guys, not just about football, but about things off the field, being vulnerable about some of the things people know about his personal life and things of that nature.“I think that’s the first step toward him building true relationships and a real connection with a lot of the guys in there. Everyone knows what he can do on the field, everyone respects what he can do on the field, but I think he’s still trying to figure things out for himself as well, the man he wants to be — and he’s not too young.“Everybody makes mistakes, it’s just, some people, they’re in the spotlight and their deals get pushed out more than some others. So you’ve just got to cut him some grace.“That’s our teammate. We love him, but as a person I think if you get to know him you’ll love him too.”Clearly Tagovailoa still believes in Hill as both a player and a person.“We’re still continuing to do that, but it’s not just with me, it’s with a lot of the guys,” Tagovailoa continued.“I’m not the only one that heard that. You guys aren’t the only people that heard that. A lot of people that follow football, that follow the Miami Dolphins, that follow Tyreek, that are fans of his, everyone has seen that.X/@DAVIDFURONES_Tagovailoa spoke at length about his relationship with Hill[/caption]“So when you say something like that, you don’t just come back from that with, ‘Hey, my bad.’ You’ve got to work that relationship up, you’ve got to build everything up again. It’s still a work in progress, not just for me but for everybody.“But like I said, he’s working on himself, he’s working on the things he says he wants to get better with and do better on. So that’s the first step to me so I commend him for doing that.”Since the Kansas City Chiefs traded away Hill to Miami after the 2021 season, he has been as advertised for the 305.In three seasons as a member of the Dolphins, Hill has 319 receptions for 4,468 yards and 26 touchdowns. He has earned First-Team All-Pro honors twice, along with two Pro Bowl recognitions. In 2024, he had a relatively down year by his standards, but a lot of that was due to Tagovailoa missing time with another concussion. He still caught 81 balls for 959 yards and six touchdowns, which is nothing to scoff at. But it’s not what we are used to seeing from Hill.NFL's Greatest......Ranking the top 10......Quarterbacks of all-time – Can anyone better Tom Brady?Wide receivers of all-time – Does Randy Moss or Jerry Rice come out on top?Running backs of all-time – Stacking Jim Brown, Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith and moreTight ends of all-time – How does Travis Kelce compare? This campaign is set to be a big year for Tagovailoa, Hill and head coach Mike McDaniel. Expectations are to not only make the postseason, but come away with at least one playoff win.In three seasons under McDaniel, the Dolphins have gone 28-23, making the postseason twice, but with zero wins. They have gone second in the AFC East all three years, looking up at Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills every time.Pressure is on the Dolphins to make some noise this year, and it will start with the connection between Tagovailoa and Hill.
