The procedure required exceptional precision, seamless coordination and deep expertise in reconstructive microsurgery.Dr Guruswamy Vishwanath, HOD of plastic surgery at DPU Super Specialty Hospital said, “It was critical to reattach the amputated part and restore blood supply as quickly as possible to ensure the survival of the hand. The surgery was successful and the patient is currently recovering. While this is a severe injury with a long road to recovery, we are confident of achieving a good functional outcome despite the deep damage. At his age, failure of the surgery would have meant not just the loss of his limbs, but also his ability to earn a livelihood and support his family.
