White House spokesman Steven Cheung dismissed the Journal report, along with any implication that Trump’s known sketches matched the description in question. (AP Photo)US Attorney General Pam Bondi informed President Donald Trump in May that his name appeared in Justice Department files about Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender who died in prison, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing senior administration officials.“When justice department officials reviewed what attorney general Pam Bondi called a ‘truckload’ of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein earlier this year, they discovered that Donald Trump’s name appeared multiple times,” the Wall Street Journal reported as per The Guardian.White House blasted the report, terming it as a continuation of “fake news stories” against the US President.“This is another fake news story, just like the previous story by the Wall Street Journal,” White House communications director Steven Cheung said in a statement. The Justice Department concluded in early July that there was no basis to continue the Epstein probe, triggering backlash from Trump’s political base, which demanded more transparency about Epstein’s powerful associates.“Nothing in the files warranted further investigation or prosecution, and we have filed a motion in court to unseal the underlying grand jury transcripts. As part of our routine briefing, we made the President aware of the findings,” Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a statement.Trump, last week, denied to a journalist’s question that Bondi had told him that his name was in the files.Stay updated with the latest - Click here to follow us on Instagram© IE Online Media Services Pvt LtdTags:donald trumpJeffrey Epstein
