Thankfully, they're fairly easy to stagger and kill... if you can reach them in time.Other enemies - Other corrupted enemies, such as Decayed Dogs and Summoned Skeletons, may cause Despair, too.The biggest problem with the Despair affliction is the rapid buildup. For instance, if you're going up against two Lantern-wielding Monks, Despair can build up in just a few seconds, leading to instant death. Best armors for Despair resistanceAmong all the armors in the game--not counting those from the Deluxe Edition or preorders--we feel that the Palace Maid armor set offers the best defense against the Despair status. If you wear all four pieces, you should have 238 Despair resistance, which slows down the buildup significantly.Even better, the Palace Maid set drops from the first boss in Tang Palace, which you visit a few hours into the campaign. You should definitely have it in your inventory by the time you head to areas populated by Despair-causing enemies.The Palace Maid armor set and various items should help you avoid a sudden end.
