Dozens of Universal Orlando Resort guests were trapped on Jurassic Park River Adventure after two boats collided, sinking one ride vehicle into the water.Credit: Universal Orlando ResortOn July 11, TikTok user @parksidewithholly shared a video taken on Jurassic Park River Adventure at Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park. Fortunately, the TikToker wasn’t riding either of the affected boats, but they had a perfect view of the collision: @parksidewithholly Nothing beats a Jet 2 holiday. What’s really scary is if you know what’s going to happen shortly after that bend. ♬ Jet2 Advert – A7-BBH | MAN The video shows that one Jurassic Park River Adventure boat collided with another in front of it, making the first boat tip forward off the track. All guests on board appeared safe, but those in the front of the ride vehicle appeared to have sunk partially into the ride water.Obviously, Jurassic Park River Adventure shut down for an extended period after the crash. Eventually, team members “straightened it out” and restarted the attraction.“We made it safely,” the TikToker said. “…I was surprised they didn’t evacuate the ride but they let us keep going and risk it all in the drop get. me. off.”Credit: Universal Orlando ResortSome former Universal Orlando Resort team members shared their theories about what went wrong in the comments.“It’s called piggyback,” said @.lescarymary. “The boats retain water and was probably not drained all the way making it heavy. Or maybe there was a back up and the boats just pushed on each other. Looks like the pumps are not fully on.”“I worked maintenance on that ride and I’m trying to figure out what happened,” @fixiefixie81 replied. “If the drain flaps on the back came off or got stuck open, it may have taken on water and if the weight distribution was towards the front, caused it to sink in front and drag on bottom…..may have done this on purpose before on a ride through….”Credit: Universal Orlando ResortSome Universal Parks fans suggested this incident was evidence that Jurassic Park River Adventure was due for much-needed maintenance.“I have a feeling they’re either going to refurbish the ride or change it because it always seems to have issues, but maybe that’s just me,” @savkrissyy wrote. At the time of this article’s publication, Jurassic Park River Adventure at Universal’s Islands of Adventure had reopened and was operating normally. What’s the wildest thing that’s happened to your family at Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Islands of Adventure, or Epic Universe?
