An uneasy calm prevailed in Keshavpatnam village in Ichoda mandal, a day after a large group of irate villagers attacked police personnel injuring three cops in the mob attack, in Adilabad district, on Monday.According to sources, police have formed multiple teams to identify and arrest those involved in pelting of stones on the police personnel, who escorted the Forest Department’s field staff during a plantation drive in the reserve forest area surrounding the village on Sunday.The incident occurred when the Forest Department personnel tried to take up plantation drive in the buffer area of the Kawal tiger zone adjoining the village, sources added.The Forest Department had earlier foiled an encroachment bid by suspected land grabbers in the buffer area.Meanwhile, the Forest officials have lodged a police complaint in connection with the Sunday’s mob attack at Keshavpatnam seeking action against those who obstructed their field staff from taking up the plantation drive by resorting to stone pelting.Sources added that some of the key accused in the mob attack are at large and the police are on the lookout for them.Published - July 21, 2025 09:25 pm IST
