A minor girl, who was a victim of gangrape at a village under Ramagiri mandal of Sri Sathya Sai district, on Monday delivered a baby under medical supervision, and both the mother and child were healthy and receiving continuous care.Superintendent of Police V. Ratna told the media here on Monday that she was overseeing the case, ensuring that the minor girl receives quality medical, legal, financial, and rehabilitation support.She said that visitors were strictly barred to prevent the risk of infections and to protect the family’s privacy as well. “Dignity of the victim in such cases is of paramount importance. Attempts to disturb peace or organise protests, which might expose her identity, will be dealt with stern police action,” the SP said.The SP said that after the crime against the minor came to light, multiple accused were taken into custody and remanded under the POCSO Act, following all legal procedures.Ms. Ratna said that the girl, admitted to hospital weeks ago with severe anaemia, was treated with coordination of multiple departments. The Department of Women and Child Welfare chalked out a recovery plan for her.Meanwhile, Minister for Home Vangalapudi Anitha, who was on a one-day visit to Madakasira Constituency in the district, while addressing the media said that as many as 14 accused were under remand on charges of sexual assault on the minor.She said that the concerned officials were taking care of the mother and child, and all necessary steps would be taken for her rehabilitation.
