At the NSS booth the officials of Regional Office, Jalandhar distributed pamphlets showcasing activities and surveys being undertaken by NSS on the theme “NSS – A glorious past to a a promising future for a Viksit Bharat”.Among others present in this moment were Arun Kumar, Asstt Director Umesh Kumar Limbu, Balram Singh & Manisha, Rahul Sharma, Senior Statistical Officers’ and Balwinder Kaur, Sonika Attri, Ravinder, Chetan Kumar and Satnam Singh, Survey Enumerators’.The National Statistics Office (NSO) under Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation has been in the service of the nation since 1950. NSS is celebrating 75 years journey of surveys from October 2024 to September 2025. It has been developing a strong database on various socio-economic parameters through its countrywide large-scale sample surveys, which has helped the Central as well as State Governments in development planning and policy formulations.The journey of the NSS began in 1950 with the establishment of the National Sample Survey (NSS) under the Ministry of Planning. The first NSS survey was conducted in October 1950 to March 1951, which covered various aspects of the economy, including general particulars of household, agriculture & livestock, household industry, craft & trade, services & financial operations and household consumer expenditure.
