Florida police recently arrested a 25-year-old naked man who allegedly tried to set fire to a Planet Fitness location in the Venice/Sarasota area before running wild through the building and crawling into the ceiling. Officers ultimately found him hiding inside a tanning bed. According to Florida news outlet 12 News, the incident occurred around midnight on July 19, 2025. Planet Fitness employees reported Henrry Antunez-Avarado’s behavior to police after asking him to leave because the gym was closing. At that point, employees said Antunez-Avarado took off all his clothes and started running around the gym, attempting to start a fire in the bathroom, and crawling into the ceiling, causing some ceiling panels to fall off. “It definitely looks like he is trying to get into the roof. Multiple locker rooms with him tearing out tile,” one officer reported at the scene. “Aww, you left cheek marks” Amid his nude spree, Antunez-Avarado reportedly entered several different rooms in the building and lay down on one of the hydro-massage beds before officers finally apprehended him hiding behind a closed door in a tanning bed, still without clothes. Reportedly, it took a K-9 to sniff out his hiding spot. Reportedly, once Antunez-Avarado was caught, one responding officer joked, “Aww, you left cheek marks.” Law enforcement charged Antunez-Avarado with indecent exposure, arson, and criminal mischief. He reportedly has one other incident on his record: a 2023 conviction for attempted burglary, trespassing, and loitering. All in all, just another day in Florida—at least if you go by the reactions online. One comment said, “All you had to say was ‘Florida Man. ‘” Another added, “Nobody likes tan lines.” And finally, “Florida stuff..it’s fine,” one comment said. There’s no word yet on whether that was also at a gym or whether Antunez-Avarado was dressed when it happened. According to jail records viewed by the New York Post, Antunez-Avarado is expected in court on August 18 — presumably, in an orange jumpsuit for his court appearance.
