‘Speeding car’ runs over toddler playing in Lohegaon Air Force quarters

By: Express News ServicePune | September 12, 2025 02:30 PM IST 2 min readA speeding car allegedly ran over a two-year-old boy playing on the premises of the Air Force quarters in Pune’s Lohegaon on Thursday afternoon.The police have identified the deceased boy as Vidarth Bhavi. His father, Vipin Bhavi, 34, an Air Force officer who resides at the quarters, subsequently approached the Vimantal police station, following which a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged.Based on his complaint, the police have booked an unidentified woman – who is believed to have driven the car at the time of the accident – under charges of negligent driving, officers said.According to the police, the complainant Vipin’s son was playing near a school on the premises of the Air Force quarters, when a car ran him over around 12.30 pm. The boy was rushed to a hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. After receiving information, a police team reached the spot for investigation.Govind Jadhav, Senior Police Inspector, Vimantal police station, said, “An offence has been registered against the woman car driver. She is also a resident of the same colony. Her husband recently retired from the Air Force.
