Darshan was arrested on June 11, 2024, for his alleged role in the June 9 murder of a fan, Renukaswamy, who allegedly stalked and abused his close friend and actor, Pavitra Gowda, on social media in Bengaluru.“I don’t want anything for anyone. Please give me poison… Let the court order it,” Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, who is lodged in the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in the Renukaswamy murder case, begged before a judge who was hearing his plea for additional pillows and a bed.Darshan appeared before a City Civil and Sessions Court in Bengaluru via videoconferencing on Tuesday morning. “It’s been nearly a month since I have seen the sunlight. My hands are getting fungus, and my clothes are getting a bad smell. I do not want anything for anyone; just give me poison. Let the court order it. Life here has become unbearable…,” the actor said. However, the judge responded, “You cannot say such things.”Darshan broke down while making the request, but nodded and remained silent following the judge’s remarks. The court allowed Darshan additional pillows and bedding as per the prison manual. It also observed that, as there is no violation of rules in the prison, the actor could be kept in the same prison.Darshan was arrested on June 11 last year, along with his friend Pavithra Gowda and 15 others, in connection with the murder of Renukaswamy, a resident of Chitradurga, who had allegedly sent lewd messages to Gowda on Instagram. His body was discovered near a stormwater drain close to an apartment complex in Sumanahalli, Bengaluru, on June 9, 2024. The actor was arrested in Mysuru while shooting for the movie The Devil.In August last year, a photo emerged where Darshan was seen smoking a cigarette with gangster J Nagaraj aliasWilson Garden Naga and making a call inside the central prison. He was later transferred to Ballari Central Prison. He was released on October 30, 2024, on interim bail after spending 131 days in jail.On December 13, 2024, the Karnataka High Court granted regular bail to Darshan and Pavithra Gowda.
