This is so true! I'm in Texas, too. Football gets lots of money AND has an established booster club. The rest of the sports get very little. The fundraiser that OP is talking about could be used for anything...buying equipment, uniforms, food for the kids, a fun outing when they compete out of town, etc. I teach journalism and get absolutely NO FUNDING! I am supposed to teach photography in my classes, but I only have 3 cameras. They were not paid for by the school. Rather, my club had to fundraise to pay for them. So I refuse to use those cameras for my classes because I don't trust all the kids that they dump in there. If a kiddo wants to learn photography, they have to join my club. I already spent thousands on my class and club out of pocket just so we can function. It is ridiculous.
