Habitual offender from East Godavari nabbed, valuables worth ₹40 lakh seized

The Palamaner police on Monday nabbed a habitual offender involved in a dozen housebreak cases and seized stolen property worth ₹40.36 lakh, which included half-a-kg of gold ornaments and 340 g of silver.Addressing a press conference at Palamaner, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Degala Prabhakar said that the accused, identified as Adapala Venkata Shiva of East Godavari district, had several cases pending against him under various police stations across Andhra Pradesh. “To evade detection by the police, the accused cleverly avoided using mobile phones while committing the crimes and during travel,” the Deputy SP said.The main lead came to the fore when Venkata Shiva committed a burglary on August 31 within Palamaner Urban police limits. “Three special teams were formed to track down the suspect. A special party apprehended the accused at Anjaneya Swamy temple on the Chittoor-Bengaluru highway on Monday,” the police officer said.Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police (SP) Tushar Dudi commended Circle-Inspector (CI) K.
