A six-year-old boy died and two others suffered minor injuries after a wall collapsed on them while they were standing outside a school in the city on Monday morning.According to Kurnool I Town Inspector M. Pardhasaradhi, the deceased boy, Shaik Raqeeb, was studying in the Keerthi High School in Kawadi Street of the Old City area. Raqeeb, who was accompanied by his mother Shaik Waheeda Begum, reached late to the school around 9 a.m., and was asked to wait outside along with two other students till the prayers were over. The two other students suffered minor bruises, while Raqeeb suffered severe head injury as the bricks fell directly on him,” Mr. Pardhasaradhi said. All the three were shifted to hospital, where the kid was declared dead.Meanwhile, Ms. Waheeda Begum alleged that the school management did not respond to the incident promptly. “No one from the school came to help me. I removed my son from the rubble and shifted him to the hospital. The school management did not even call an ambulance,” she alleged.Mr. Pardhasaradhi said that the wall that had collapsed was built with single brick lining, without any intermediary support system, which might have led to the accident. Further, the wall might have gotten damp due to the continuous rains over the past week, the Inspector added.A case of suspicious death was registered and investigation is on. Meanwhile, leaders of Left parties and student unions staged a protest demanding action against the management. They alleged that the school was lacking basic facilities and proper security for the children.Ministers reactHuman Resources Development (HRD) Minister Nara Lokesh expressed grief over the incident and asked the district officials to provide best medical treatment to the injured.
