Chief Secretary and Special CS (Energy) K. Vijayanand said the State’s power sector has made remarkable progress in recent months, thanks to the implementation of several new policies, the rollout of key infrastructure projects, and a focused approach toward establishing renewable energy (RE) projects, reducing aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) losses, and upgrading technologies.Addressing a delegation of the APSEB Engineers’ Association (APSEBEA) at his camp office in the city on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya (Engineers’ Day) on Monday, Mr. Vijayanand said the government has already taken significant steps to promote RE adoption through the Integrated Clean Energy Policy. This policy targets achieving 50% of the State’s installed capacity from renewables by 2030, with emphasis on green hydrogen, pumped storage, hybrid energy, and RE manufacturing hubs as key growth areas. The recently notified Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) Regulations, 2025, provide a clear framework for the integration of grid-scale storage. BESS helps stabilise the grid, supports large-scale renewable integration, and ensures consumers receive reliable and quality power supply. Work on Phase-3 of the Green Energy Corridor is underway to evacuate renewable power from major generation clusters.Paying tribute to Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, Mr. Vijayanand highlighted his invaluable contributions to the utilisation of water resources, including the construction of dams across the country, notably the Krishna Raja Sagara Dam in Mysore, and the flood protection systems established under his guidance in various States.APSEBEA president N.
