(Source: File/ Representational Photo)Shahjahanpur Police have lodged an FIR against 200 unidentified persons — all belonging to the same community — for allegedly staging a protest outside a police station after a youth made objectionable remarks against Islam on social media.Police said the protestors raised slogans after gathering outside the Sadar Bazar police station and blocking the road. Officers tried to pacify protestors by informing them that the accused had already been arrested, but when the crowd refused to disperse, mild force was used to clear the area, added police.Station House Officer (SHO) of Sadar Bazaar police station, Arvind Chauhan, confirmed that an FIR has been lodged against 200 persons in connection with the protest held at the police station.Earlier, police had arrested a resident for allegedly posting objectionable remarks on Facebook that hurt the sentiments of people from the other community. A complaint was filed at the Sadar Bazaar police station, and the post has since been deleted.In a separate case, on Saturday, police arrested a woman for allegedly posting objectionable remarks about deities on social media sites such as Facebook. Two more persons were also booked in this case lodged on Friday.Shahjahanpur police have appealed to the public not to post or forward objectionable comments against any person or community on social media.
