You can credit Hailey Bieber’s Rhode with the popularization of “glazed donut” skin, and since it launched in 2022, the brand has wormed its way into the broader cultural conversation — spawning memes, promoting new products with Claudia Schiffer and Harris Dickinson, even inspiring song lyrics. The company was acquired by E.L.F. Beauty in May 2025, and it recently arrived at Sephora, so it’s likely to continue to grow. What’s perhaps most surprising is that Rhode has accomplished all of its success with just 10 skin-care and makeup products in its entire line and by selling them exclusively via the Rhode website up until its recent Sephora launch. (That’s not counting the compact mirror and the phone case that’s molded to hold the brand’s signature lip balm, or, as Bieber’s husband Justin sings it, “iPhone case, lip gloss on it.”)We’ve tested a couple of items from Rhode previously, but with the anticipated launch in Sephora, we figured it was time to put the entire line to the test — especially because Rhode has gotten a fair bit of criticism from online reviewers, suggesting the brand is doing “nothing special,” a phrase I saw repeatedly in comments and review sections. But the relatively simple formulas are a feature, not a bug.Bieber has posted on TikTok about her struggles with recurring perioral dermatitis, a common type of inflammatory rash. It’s clear that Rhode is formulated with those sensitivities in mind. The products are almost all fragrance-free, apart from the flavored lip balm, and every item focuses on hydration and soothing, making them quite easy to use for a variety of skin types.Still, the brand can be confusing to navigate. What’s the difference between Glazing Milk, Glazing Mist, and Peptide Glazing Fluid? Do you really need peptides in your balm? And could loading up on hydrating products be enough to reach that sought-after dewy, glowy finish? We had these questions and more, so we put Rhode to the test. Now that we’ve tried every product from the brand, we’re here to help you parse what’s worth trying and what isn’t.
