2 min readChhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu DeoThe Cabinet, led by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo, Tuesday decided to appoint the wife of Additional SP Akash Rao Girepunje (42), who was killed in a Maoist attack this year, as Deputy SP.On June 9, Girepunje was inspecting a quarry where Maoists had set fire to a construction vehicle when he stepped on an IED, killing him.“As a special case, the Cabinet approved a compassionate appointment for his wife, Smt. Sneha Girepunje, to the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) in the State Police Service,” a government press note stated.Responding to the CM’s decision, Girepunje’s brother Akash said, “We are pleased to hear this. It is almost impossible to fill his shoes but our family is confident that my sister-in-law will pave the way towards a great future…”In another decision, the Cabinet amended the State Solar Energy Policy which will remain in force until 2030 or until a new policy is issued by the government. Under the new policy, solar energy projects will receive priority industry status.A government official said, “Under the solar energy policy, various investment incentives, grants, exemptions and concessions are provided for the solar power generation plants to be set up in the state. In particular, there is a provision for exemption from payment of electricity duty on the plant’s own consumption (auxiliary consumption) and captive consumption within the state by every solar energy power generation project.
