Three days after the Maddur police registered an FIR against MLA for Vijayapura, Basanagouda R. Patil Yatnal, the Tumakuru town police on Saturday registered a suo motu case for his allegedly provocative and abusive speech.While participating in a programme on September 13, ahead of Ganesha idol immersion in Tumakuru, Mr. Yatnal allegedly accused the government of helping only members of minority community for getting contracts and reservation.Earlier, the Maddur town police had registered an FIR against him after an allegedly provocative speech, also ahead of Ganesha idol immersion procession in the town in Mandya district on September 10.Published - September 15, 2025 09:56 pm IST
