Maltese starlet Francesca Curmi has has successfully qualified for the main draw of the inaugural Lexus Tolentino Open, a WTA 125 clay-court tournament held at Circolo Tennis Tolentino after back-to-back wins in the qualifying rounds.In the first round of qualifying, Curmi defeated Italy’s Angelica Raggi in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. The following day she secured another win, beating Verena Meliss 6-4, 6-2 to move into the main draw.The Lexus Tolentino Open, which runs from 15th–21th September 2025, is the tournament’s first edition as part of the WTA 125 circuit.Curmi’s qualification puts her among a select few Maltese players making strides on the international scene, this marks another important step in her professional career as she continues to climb the international rankings. Curmi will now face tougher competition in the main draw, which includes seeds like Mayar Sherif, Darja Semeņistaja, and Sára Bejlek.Well done Francesca!•
