(Express File)Ahead of the arrival of Congress MP and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi to his parliamentary constituency Rae Bareli on Wednesday, posters cropped up across the district, depicting three leaders of the INDIA alliance – RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav as three Hindu Gods – Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. These posters claimed that the “country would be saved from its end by these three.”“India ki antim aash, kalyug ke Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh” read the message on one such poster that depicted Tejashwi as Lord Brahma, Rahul as Lord Vishnu and Akhilesh as Lord Mahesh.The posters were put up by a leader of the Samajwadi Party’s Lohia Vahini, Rahul Nirmal. Asked about the matter, Nirmal said that the way these three leaders are raising the issues of backward classes, deprived and unemployed youths across the country, especially in Uttar Pradesh as well as Bihar, he and many other youths consider them as “Kalyug ke avatar” of the three Gods, who would resolve their troubles.On Wednesday, Rahul will convene meetings with the booth level workers of Harchandpur as well as Unchahar, among other engagements, on Wednesday. Further, continuing with its earlier intervention and interactions with the “Prajapati” community, which has significant presence both in Rae Bareli as well as adjoining Amethi, Rahul would also meet Prajapati Community members this Wednesday in Rae Bareli.Rahul will felicitate and interact with members of the Prajapati at a ‘Pratibha Samman Samaroh’ in Rae Bareli that will be organised by Prajapati Mahasabha. On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi will meet local residents earlier in the day and also participate in a District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee meeting, before leaving for Delhi.BJP spokesperson Rakesh Tripathi told The Indian Express on Wednesday that putting up posters in such a manner is showing disrespect to the Hindu Gods and Goddesses and he would request administration to take cognizance of these posters and further action on the same.“Such posters hurt the sentiments of followers of Sanatan Dharma and they (those behind the posters) are doing it purposely.
