RIO FERDINAND is fearful that one big-money signing at Manchester United might make European football a “long shot”.The Red Devils have four points from as many games so far, their worst start to a season since 1992/93.AlamyRio Ferdinand has revealed he is worried about Benjamin Sesko[/caption]Ferdinand highlighted his lack of chancesThat has come despite an outlay of more than £200million on the squad, including a new strikeforce. But United icon Ferdinand has revealed his concerns over £74million signing Benjamin Sesko following his performance against Manchester City.United looked flat as they were dismantled 3-0 at the Etihad through goals from Phil Foden and Erling Haaland. And Ferdinand has highlighted the impact, or lack thereof, of Sesko in the game.Speaking on his Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, the 46-year-old said: “The one I’m worried about is Sesko.“He ain’t getting no chances man, he ain’t getting no opportunities, there’s nothing created for him.“That’s the concern. A new striker comes in the football club, gets in the team, you’ve got to think about creating chances for him. “Getting him on the end of things. He’s got to think about getting on the end of things. BEST ONLINE CASINOS – TOP SITES IN THE UK“That’s something I think has got to be looked at, and fixed quick. I don’t want to think about what it could turn out to be.”SunSport looked at the 22-year-old’s numbers from the game, and saw they did not paint a pretty picture. Sesko was an isolated figure and was unable to contribute to the United attack in meaningful areas. Out of 20 touches, not a single one was in the penalty box, while he also completed just eight out of 14 pass attempts. But Sesko’s average position was even more alarming, as the Slovenian ace found himself in the CENTRE CIRCLE next to Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte.Indeed, his position was deeper than that of Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and left wing-back Patrick Dorgu.Reflecting on the performance as a whole, Ferdinand continued: “It’s depressing watching United like that.“The way we allowed them to get in and get goals and get opportunities – it was weak, it was powderpuff, it just lacked anything. “I thought in the first-half, we pressed them quite well, and we had possession at times. “(But then we) got in the final third, and there was zero creativity. “Without Bruno (Fernandes), you’re looking at it going, ‘who else is going to create something – (Bryan) Mbeumo?’ But there’ s no real guile.”Ferdinand added: “If I sit here now and you ask me, ‘where will Man United finish?’, I would say probably sixth or seventh, I would be happy with it this season. “That’s looking like a long shot at this moment in time.”It is understood some United stars are losing faith in manager Ruben Amorim, amid his insistence to persevere with his 3-4-3 shape. The 40-year-old retains the backing of the club hierarchy, who denied claims he had lost the dressing room. However, there is no denying that Amorim’s record since taking charge last year is nothing but woeful. The former Sporting Lisbon boss has the worst win rate of any United boss since World War Two, while the Red Devils have also picked up the fewest points out of any of the ever-present teams in the Prem since Amorim took charge. He has been urged to “bite the bullet” and change his ways by Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt, though Amorim remained insistent after the City defeat that he will not change his ways – no matter the cost.Man Utd ratings vs Man City: Mbeumo forces wonder save from Donnarumma but that’s as good as it getsMANCHESTER UNITED’S miserable start to the season continued after they were brushed aside by neighbours Man City.Ruben Amorim’s side were unable to come back with a bang after the international break, falling to a 3-0 away defeat.Phil Foden opened the scoring for City after just 18 minutes with a glancing header that gave Altay Bayindir – keeping his spot despite the arrival on Ssnne Lammens – little chance to stop. While Erling Haaland did what he does best by bagging a second-half brace to put the hosts out of reach.United now sit 14th in the table, with City leapfrogging them with their second win of the season. Here’s how SunSport’s Katherine Walsh rated each Man Utd players performance…
