Police are investigating the fatal shooting of Gavin Major, a 48-year-old driver, who died last Thursday at East Ruimveldt, Georgetown.The main suspect, 30-year-old Nevin Eversley, is being sought for the crime.The News Room understands that Eversley and Major are known to each other. On Thursday, at about 23:15 hrs, Major was reportedly driving his motor car #PWW 1025 home. His cousin, Marlon Hinds, was in the motor car and told investigators that as they drove past Eversley’s house, three loud explosions suspected to be gunshots were heard. Eversley was standing in front of his gate east.Major reportedly stopped his vehicle, reversed, and went in front of Eversley’s house. He then exited the car and inquired about the gunshots discharged.An argument ensued between the two men, and Eversley, who was armed with a handgun, discharged two rounds at Major before fleeing the scene.Hinds and others in the area tried to provide some assistance to Major and took him to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.The man’s body was examined, and it was observed that he received two gunshot wounds: one to his lower abdomen and one to his left hand.Later, the scene was processed by officers. Two 9mm spent shells were found at the scene.
