The highly anticipated events showcased the redesigned iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max smartphones with some notable features and upgrades over their predecessors. The new top-of-the-line iPhones feature the powerful A19 Pro chipset and come with the best-ever performance, camera systems, and enhanced battery life. The iPhone 17 Pro models are what Apple claims to be a massive leap in battery life. The new phones come with Apple’s proprietary vapour chamber that has been laser-welded into a strong, light and a thermally conductive aluminium unibody. The new Pro models feature a distinct camera module, a first in terms of design in over six years. Those leaked CAD drawings of the redesigned camera setup seem to have proved accurate. The new iPhone 17 Pro models come with Apple’s most powerful chip yet. Both the models are powered by the new A19 Pro that delivers the best-ever performance and efficiency in an iPhone. It features a 6-core CPU, the fastest in any smartphone, and a 6-core GPU with built-in Neural Accelerators, a larger cache, and more memory. Combined with a 16-core Neural Engine, the chip powers realistic graphics, ray tracing, and console-level games. It features ProMotion up to 120 Hz, Always-On, and 3,000 nits of peak outdoor brightness. Apple said that this is the first time that Ceramic Shield has been used to protect the back of the devices, offering four times better resistance to cracks compared to earlier models. Apple also claims that the new redesigned internal architecture, with a raised plateau on the back, offers extra space for a bigger battery, extending battery life considerably. Both phones can charge up to 50 per cent in 20 minutes with an optional high-wattage USB-C power adapter.When it comes to cameras, the Pro models have three 48MP Fusion cameras: Main, Ultra Wide, and an all-new Telephoto, offering the equivalent of eight lenses. The Pro models also get a high-resolution 18MP Centre Stage camera that intelligently frames the subject. It also boasts new industry-first video features built for pro filmmakers and content creators, including ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2, and genlock.Both devices feature a Ceramic Shield 2 front cover with 3x better scratch resistance, and for the first time, Ceramic Shield protects the back of the iPhone. The new iPhone Pro models come in deep blue, cosmic orange, and silver colourways. The smartphones start with 256GB and go up to 2TB of storage.
