During one of the episodes, wildcard entrant Ved Lakshmi was seen making extremely discriminatory comments against fellow contestants Adhila Nasarin and Fathima Noora, the show’s first openly lesbian couple. As he arrived for the weekend segment, host Mohanlal called out Lakshmi and another inmate who made similar remarks, coming down heavily on them for their words.During a weekly task, while arguing with fellow contestant Akbar, Lakshmi had made derogatory remarks about Adhila and Noora’s sexuality. Lakshmi told Akbar that she didn’t have the “shamelessness” to seek Adhila and Noora’s support to ensure that she continued in the Bigg Boss house. “These girls can’t even live in our society; I don’t have that much shamelessness to seek their support. If they were two people who made their living by doing work, I would have respected them. But they’re not like that. They’re the kind of people you wouldn’t even welcome into your home,” Lakshmi said. Although the comments left the couple shaken, they chose not to respond directly. After playing the clip of Lakshmi’s remark, Mohanlal asked her, “Who are the ones who can’t be welcomed to your home? Who are the ones who don’t have value in society? Who are the ones living without a job?” In response, Lakshmi claimed she was against “normalising homosexuality.”Irked by the comment, Mohanlal responded strongly, “They are not living at your expense. They are doing their jobs, living with dignity. What kind of statement was that? Society has accepted them. We have accepted them. If you had a problem with this, you shouldn’t have come to this show. No one forced you. We have welcomed many such people into this platform, and proudly so.”Going one step further, the Malayalam cinema legend stated, “I will welcome them into my home. Let them come to my home,” which elicited thunderous applause from the other contestants in the house.
