By: Express News ServiceNew Delhi | September 15, 2025 05:43 AM IST 2 min readThe CM stated that both the Atal Drishti Girls’ Hostel and Atal Asha Home have been named in memory of former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee (File)To mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday on September 17, the Delhi government will inaugurate facilities for visually impaired students, intellectually disabled persons, and senior citizens, Chief Minister (CM) Rekha Gupta said Sunday.She said the projects are part of Seva Pakhwada- a fortnight-long programme from September 17 to October 2 -to celebrate Modi’s birthday. During this period, the CM had announced that the government will launch 75 projects.Among them is the Atal Drishti Girls’ Hostel near Delhi University, built at a cost of Rs.13.42 crore. The four-storey facility will house 96 visually impaired students and has been designed with barrier-free infrastructure The hostel aims to provide safe accommodation and help students pursue higher education with dignity and independence, Gupta said.The Atal Asha Home in Narela has been built on a 12,500-square-metre plot at a cost of about Rs 40.60 crore. With a capacity for 220 residents, it will provide nutrition, health check-ups, education, training, and recreational activities for intellectually disabled persons.The CM stated that both the Atal Drishti Girls’ Hostel and Atal Asha Home have been named in memory of former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. In Paschim Vihar, the Savitribai Phule Senior Citizens’ Home has been completed at a cost of Rs 10.64 crore.
