Burger bashes two, Rangers comeback to sweep Milwaukee and cap off dominant home stand

ARLINGTON, TX – Behind Jake Burger’s pair of home runs, the Rangers finished their dominant homestand with a sweep of the league’s best team, the Milwaukee Brewers. After Brice Turang hit his 18th home run of the season and Jackson Chourio hit his 20th home run on the year to start the game, it seemed like very early that the sweep was out of the question.Entering this game, the Rangers were a measly 16-44 in games where their opponent scored first. However, in their last 16 games prior to this one, they are proving to be a lot more gritty now at 4-3 in games where the opposing team scores first. After the pair of homers from the Brewers, Christian Yelich nearly made it three in a row before Rangers phenom Michael Helman made a grab on the warning track, continuing his dream series. In the bottom of the second, Jake Burger’s first home run of the day cut the Brewer’s lead in half to 2-1.Then with one out in the bottom of the third, Joc Pederson grounded into a fielder’s choice with the bases loaded allowing Helman to tie the game up at two a piece. Then on a mental error from Brewers ace, Freddy Peralta, Josh Smith got a free pass home to give the Rangers their first lead of the game on a balk.Later in the bottom of the fifth, Jake Burger hit his second home run of the game. This time a two run shot to extend the Rangers lead up to three. The Brewers would get one back on a Rhys Hoskins base hit in the sixth. However, in the bottom of the eighth, the “Beefy Boys” combo would produce a run after Rowdy Tellez grounded into a fielder's choice and Jake Burger came home.In another gritty showing, Texas took down the best team in the MLB for a comeback win that kept them within a series of the Astros. After the game, Jake Burger said, “It feels like it’s somebody different every night,” before getting cut off by outfielder Sam Haggerty from across the clubhouse.“It was you today, Burg!” Haggerty yelled. On Tuesday, manager Bruce Bochy mentioned, “We're seeing these young guys coming up and having fun, playing loose, playing with joy. When you look at them, they're all smiling, having a good time.”Although the young guys probably don’t want the rest, the Rangers are off today before they start a six game road stretch against the Mets and Astros.Jacob deGrom will get the start tomorrow and make his return to MetLife Stadium against the Mets. MORE BASEBALL NEWS:'I believe in this club': GM Dana Brown remains confident in Astros despite recent strugglesDodgers' Shohei Ohtani shatters historic MLB feat not seen since legend Ken Griffey Jr.Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos leaves Ozzie Albies' future in doubt with cryptic contract commentFormer Cubs' Anthony Rizzo reveals heartfelt reason for retirementPhillies make Andrew Painter decision after Walker Buehler signing
