Woman trainee doctor from Kolkata’s RG Kar College dies; kin file complaint against male friend

The woman’s family later filed an FIR against her male friend, alleging that he forced her to consume some substance, after which she fell ill. The police have launched an investigation but no arrest has been made yet.According to sources, doctors suspect that a “medicine overdose” may have led to her death. Police, however, said that the autopsy report is awaited to ascertain the exact cause of death.According to the woman’s family, she had been in a relationship with another MBBS student.“She was pregnant and he (her male friend) was forcing her to go for an abortion but she was not willing. She had told us that he was forcing her to eat something. On Friday, we were informed that our daughter was admitted to hospital,” claimed her mother.A senior police officer said on Saturday, “According to the woman’s parents, she had been trying to persuade the youth to register their marriage, which her family claimed had taken place earlier. We are investigating all aspects.”Prasenjit Dhar, Superintendent, Malda medical college, said later on Saturday, “I am yet to be informed about the details of this case and can comment only after receiving a detailed report.
