Walt Disney Studios was meant to evoke the same classic movie-masking aesthetic seen inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park, featuring faux backlots and movie sets.Disney’s Hollywood Studios, originally called Disney MGM Studios, featured real working studios and sets and was meant to compete with Universal Studios Hollywood, which was both a theme park and a production hub. However, Walt Disney Studios in Paris was rarely used as a real working studio; instead, it used this theming simply as a facade most of the time.Like Hollywood Studios, Walt Disney Studios’ connection to Hollywood and cinema continued to fade as time passed, with select rides and attractions closing or being replaced over the years.Today, the park is home to Avengers Campus, one of the more divisive expansions to open at the Disney parks in recent times.Walt Disney Studios is hardly the only place visitors will see construction, as the entire Disneyland Paris Resort is undergoing one of its most significant and most transformative overhauls it’s ever seen.Disneyland Paris is also building a new ride based on The Lion King. This attraction will mimic Disney’s defunct Splash Mountain log flume ride, a type of ride never before seen at the resort.Other upgrades are happening inside Disney Village, Disneyland Paris’ shopping and dining center.
