Their co-stars Pedro Pascal and Kaitlyn Dever went and represented the series. This year, Ramsey was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for their role as Ellie in The Last of Us season 2. This marks their second nomination in that category—a historic achievement as it made them the first non-binary person to earn more than one Emmy nomination. Ramsey ultimately lost the award to Severance’s Britt Lower.Per Entertainment Weekly, Ramsey expressed gratitude to the show’s cast and crew, including their on-screen comrade and confidant, Pascal. “I’m very grateful to have been recognized for my work on The Last of Us season two, alongside Pedro, Kaitlyn, Catherine, Jeffrey, Joe, and many of our incredible crafts team members,” they said in a statement. “These nominations are for every member of crew who worked so tirelessly to create the perfect environment for our performances to flourish.”In the latest season of The Last of Us, Ramsey took on a more mature, physically demanding version of Ellie, who grappled with grief, revenge, and growth after a five-year time jump. “Her heart has gotten a bit harder,” Ramsey told The Wrap. “She’s more of a hardened survivor like Joel was, and there’s been a lot of trauma for her—for her whole life and over the time jump. She’s had to grow up and establish herself as an adult in the community, aside from Joel.”Coming up for Ramsey is the titular role of Maya, a thriller helmed by Daisy Haggard. Deadline confirmed that Ramsey will play the teenage daughter of Anna (Haggard) as the two relocate from London to Scotland when they’re forced into a witness protection program. The six-part series will drop on the streaming platform Channel 4; it does not have a release date yet.Ramsey will also likely return to The Last of Us season 3—and every other installment if the show continues beyond that. In 2023, they told ELLE that they’re willing to play Ellie “forever.” They added: “There’s no limits for me. They can do as many games as they like, as many series as they like, and I’ll be here, flying back out to Canada.” Read up on everything we know about the third season, including when it will premiere.
